Maryland Reduces the Annual Interest Rate for Tax Deficiencies and Refunds

On May 10, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) signed into law a bill that reduces the annual interest rate for tax deficiencies and refunds. The interest rate will reduce by one percentage point each year, with the current 13 percent interest rate reduced to nine percent by 2020. The act becomes effective July 1, 2016.
